KiswahiliStay Safe During Your Safari with Flying Doctors Coverage
When planning your safari adventure in East Africa, it’s natural to be concerned about medical emergencies in remote areas. Fortunately, the AMREF Flying Doctors service is here to provide peace of mind. Operating across East Africa, they offer an emergency air ambulance service with doctors and pilots available 24/7. For just USD 40 per person for 30 days, you can travel worry-free through remote parts of Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, and Rwanda.
In Case of a Medical Emergency
Whether you suffer a snake bite in Kenya’s Masai Mara or face a serious injury while boarding a boat in Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park, Flying Doctors can provide expert medical advice or arrange emergency evacuation to a top hospital in Nairobi, Kenya.
Even if a pre-existing health condition unexpectedly flares up in the middle of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, a team of trained medical professionals can be airborne within minutes, ready to pick you up from the nearest airstrip and transport you directly to specialized care.
Know the Limits
It’s important to understand that Flying Doctors evaluates the situation before intervening and only covers emergency transport and assistance. Hospital bills, treatment costs, and any necessary visa fees (if you’re entering Kenya from another country) are not included and must be covered by your personal health or travel insurance. However, they do assist with expedited visa processing to ensure you get help quickly.
For those trekking Mount Kilimanjaro, Flying Doctors can also coordinate helicopter evacuations and transport you to a hospital in Moshi. Note that helicopter landing conditions depend on terrain, weather, and weight limitations. Details are available in their FAQs. Please note: Mount Meru climbs are not covered by Flying Doctors, so ensure your personal travel insurance includes coverage for such treks.
